In 2011, Bar 145 became the first burger-centric “gastropub” concept to launch in Toledo, Ohio. This new venture touts a relaxed atmosphere coupled with an upscale menu that includes tempura-battered green beans, baked clams and “build your own” burgers made with Niman Ranch beef served on artisan breads.
“We have a vast array of non-burger menu items that complement different beers, wines and cocktails that we offer,” says Jeremy Fitzgerald, owner-operator of Bar 145. “A few of our shared plates include: charcuterie, sliced pretzel bread with organic gouda sauce, Duck Confit fingerling potatoes, and salmon flatbread.”
A second location is in the works in Kent, Ohio and a new franchising effort was just launched with initial expansion plans targeted for Cleveland, Ann Arbor and Columbus. Company executives are in Columbus this week, scouting locations in Grandview Heights, The Short North, and near the Polaris Mall and Lenox Town Center.
“While other cities may have gastropubs, we are a bit of a hybrid 21st century gastropub,” explains Fitzgerald. “Although we may be similar because we offer quality food in a pub atmosphere, I believe that we take it to a whole new level by offering entertainment far beyond the norm.”
Bar 145 features a regular entertainment lineup during evening and weekend hours though it touts a family-friendly environment during the day.
