Apartments Proposed for North Fourth Street Site
A five-story apartment building has been proposed for 1020 N. Fourth St., a site currently occupied by the Hyer Hookah Lounge.
The proposed building would hold a total of 62 apartments and a 1,200-square-foot commercial space on the ground floor. A parking garage with room for 96 cars would occupy a basement level as well as a portion of the first floor.
The parcel sits north of East Third Avenue and south of the former Durable Slate building, which was recently demolished – a four-story, 66-unit apartment building is now under construction on that site.
A previous proposal for the corner, which called for a three-story boutique hotel, was presented to the Italian Village Commission (IVC) in the fall of 2019.
The new concept will get a preliminary review from the commission at its February 9 meeting.
Also on the agenda for this month’s meeting is Phase Nine of the Jeffrey Park development – which now calls for a five-story mixed-use building containing office space, apartments and a parking garage – as well as an updated plan for The Lusso, a sizable development proposed for the northeastern corner of the neighborhood.
At last month’s IVC meeting, the commission approved the latest design for the Parkside on Pearl project.
