Angry Bear Kitchen announced its closure on Monday. Co-owners Tyler Minnis, Jarod Norris and Daniel Scalzo have decided to shut the doors on the restaurant that sits just north of campus and commit more time to their families.

“This decision, although not easy, was the correct one and based solely on our families and providing the necessary time and attention to them,” Minnis said. “We aren’t leaving the industry for good, just taking some necessary time to reevaluate.”

While it was open, ABK was known for its affordable gourmet experience and weekend brunch. Fans submitted raving reviews about the food, the wine and the waitstaff’s attentiveness and attention to detail. Many were sad to see the announcement and wondered about the future for the business partners and the business itself.

From the Facebook announcement, it looks like Angry Bear Kitchen is history, but the owners aren’t ruling out different concepts.

“Although we regret the end of Angry Bear Kitchen, we look forward to spending more time with our families and building new ones,” it said. “We also look forward to the possibility of any new projects that may come to fruition in this wonderful city.”
