Alaska Airlines has announced a second daily nonstop Seattle flight to John Glenn Columbus International Airport this summer. Flights will operate June 18 through August 17, 2020, in addition to existing year-round flights to Seattle.
On March 7, 2019, Columbus residents added Seattle to the growing list of cities offering nonstop flights for passengers for the first time.
Alaska Airlines announced it will launch daily nonstop service from CMH to Seattle–Tacoma International Airport, saving passengers an average of three hours one way, compared to connecting flights.
Alaska Airlines is one of the most popular west coast air carriers in the country. With nonstop service to Seattle, Columbus residents will be able to connect to more than 900 destinations around the world.
Kenny McDonald, president and CEO of the economic development organization Columbus 2020, said in a press release that the new nonstop service offered by Alaska Airlines will be a “valuable selling point” for continued business growth in Columbus.
“The Columbus business community welcomes Alaska Airlines to the list of major West Coast firms investing in our region,” said McDonald. “Recent expansions in Central Ohio by Seattle-area businesses such as Amazon, zulily and SK Food Group underscore the value of Alaska’s nonstop flights between Seattle and Columbus.”
Mayor Ginther also commented on the added service, saying the announcement is great news for Columbus.
“Expanding our air service allows for more trade between our markets and helps to attract even more talented people to our region,” he said. “We welcome Alaska Airlines as a new business investor in our community and congratulate the Columbus Regional Airport Authority for their work in securing the investment.”
