April Fools Day: Trump Hotels to Manage New 22-Story Convention Center Expansion

In March, representatives with the Franklin County Convention Facilities Authority announced plans for a 22-story 470-room hotel expansion at the Greater Columbus Convention Center, and today additional details were unveiled about hotel operations. Trump International Hotels will be the management company for the new building, which will also receive naming rights from the company.

A new rendering provided showcases the previous architecture updated with a shimmering coat of gold trim that will reflect the luxury brand known worldwide at Trump Hotels. The top of the building will also be adorned with 20-foot tall letters spelling TRUMP, soon to be visible from any skyline view of the city.

“This news is huge for Columbus, believe me,” stated Trump Organization representative David Dennison on a phone call yesterday afternoon. “I know it, and everyone knows it, that this beautiful new hotel is going to make millions and millions of dollars for many, many years.”

“There’s so much excitement — much more excitement than anyone has about Crooked Hillary — let me tell you,” continued Dennison. “Believe me, we’re going to hire only the best people — I know all of the best and smartest people — to work at my hotel.”

Amenities at the new hotel include standards found in other Trump branded facilities, including multiple dining rooms, fitness centers, an indoor miniature golf course, The Spa by Ivanka Trump, The Business Center by Jared Kushner and The Lounge by Stormy Daniels.

Additonally, the new “As We Are” sculpture by Matthew Mohr (the giant LED head inside the Convention Center) will be switched off to the public, only projecting a visage of Donald Trump.

Previously, the hotel’s construction was slated to be paid for by a bond package approved by Columbus City Council and the Franklin County Board of Commissioners, but the Trump Hotels agreement also comes with financial backing from Russian investors, alleviating the need to use public dollars for the project.

“We’re going to make Columbus great again,” concluded Dennison. “Believe me. NO COLLUSION! SAD!”
