45-Unit Apartment Development Announced in Franklinton

The latest development announcement in Franklinton isn’t quite as large as some of the others discussed this year, but it will still provide needed urban infill and new housing to a prominent location in the neighborhood. “OUT OF TOWN” is the name of the new 45-unit housing development that is slated for construction at 520 West Town Street, not far from 400 West Rich and the Columbus Idea Foundry.

The project will include 36 one-bedroom apartment units and nine two-bedroom units, with 50 percent of the units priced for 80 percent of the area median income, with those rents held at those lower levels for a period of five years. The project is a unique joint venture between Metropolitan Holdings and Arch City Development, located on a site that was purchased from the City of Columbus through an RFP request.

Once completed, OUT OF TOWN will be easily recognizable from its contemporary design from the Franklinton-based Blostein/Overly Architects. The release issued today describes the aesthetic as “an attractive and affordable siting for artists and the artsy”.
