    16-Bit Bar+Arcade Expanding to Cleveland

The best new bar in Columbus of 2013 may soon become known as the best new bar in Cleveland in 2014. The popular 16-Bit Bar+Arcade is expanding to the Cleveland area this summer by way of a Lakewood location.

“Things have been going so well in Columbus that we’re ready to make the jump to Cleveland,” says 16-Bit owner Troy Allen. “We finalized the paperwork yesterday for a great spot on Detroit Avenue just a block away from Melt.”

The new Cleveland location will double the size to approximately 4,000 square feet, which includes a large enclosed patio that can accommodate approximately 60 people. More space means the addition of more games, a bigger bar with 24 taps, and at least eight ski ball lanes.

“Ski ball leagues are huge in New York and Chicago right now,” says Allen. “The space will give us the ability to do a lot of things we’ve been wanting to do here in Columbus.”

If the idea of a Cleveland location being bigger and better makes you jealous, fear not… the addition of a second location means a larger pool of arcade cabinets that Allen says will rotate between the two venues.

“We do want to pit the locations against each other a bit with the addition of tournaments,” says Allen. “Once a quarter we’ll shuttle some of our regulars up to Cleveland or down to Columbus to face off.”

If one expansion in 2014 isn’t enough, Allen says that he is already in early talks on a Cincinnati location, and has some plans for upgrades to our Columbus location coming soon as well.

The Cleveland version of the 16-Bit Bar+Arcade is slated to open on July 1st.
