For 13 years, Caffe’ Apropos, located on the corner of Third and Michigan, has served up espresso, coffee, snacks, wine and beer, satisfying customers’ cravings from dawn ’til dark. That’ll come to an end this month, as owner Anton Wood confirmed the building will close its doors on January 19.
“It is true we will be closing our doors on January 19th,” Wood wrote in a statement. “We have been bought out and the new owners will be changing the name, concept, and interior.”
Wood didn’t say who the new owner would be or what their concept was.
Caffe’ Apropos first opened in April 2004. In a 2014 interview with CU regarding their 10-year anniversary, Wood shared that the timing was perfect for the business as redevelopment was beginning along First Ave. Its opening added a destination to a quiet neighborhood, which later saw the opening of popular breakfast and brunch spot Katalina’s.
“Indeed the cafe and all the wonderful patrons will be greatly missed!” Wood added.
