While some local retailers are ready to open as soon as possible on May 12 when the state order to resume business goes into effect, others are choosing to wait just a bit longer. Many of these stores are operating on limited hours and limited capacities in order to manage their business safety for their customers. Please keep in mind that many are also requiring customers to wear masks, and some are providing them if you show up without one.

As Ohio moves toward a re-opening plan, we recommend that everyone stay safe and respectful and honor the changes in store policies whenever you may shop. The information below is current as of the time of publishing, but it’s recommended to call ahead to any store you visit to double check on hours of operation and shopping policies if you have questions.

Brandt-Roberts Galleries

Re-Opening May 15
642 N. High Street – Short North

Short North art gallery Brandt-Roberts is re-opening on May 15 with limited hours (1pm to 5pm, Friday through Sunday). The gallery will also offer private appointments, curbside pick-up, and masks and hand sanitizer for customers.

Pinot’s Palette

Re-Opening May 21

Pinot’s Palette just opened in February this year, shortly before the Coronavirus shutdown began. This new entertainment destination will reopen their doors on May 21, offering new opportunities for those seeking a painting-while-drinking experience. The business will offer curbside pickup as well as virtual class options.

Edgework Creative

Reopened on May 4

This local furniture shop and millworking space already re-opened for business last week, and offers online ordering and delivery. They can do custom fabrication projects as well for home renovations.

Celebrate Local

Re-Opening May 14
Easton Town Center

Artisan marketplace Celebrate Local is re-opening at Easton on May 14 with limited hours (11am to 7pm Thursday through Saturday, and Noon to 6pm on Sunday). Through the end of May, the store is offering a 20 percent discount if you spend over $100 in the store, and also offers curbside pickup for online orders with a $10 gift wrap service.

Glenn Avenue Soap Company

Re-Opening June 1
1166 W. Fifth Avenue — Fifth by Northwest

Local soap maker Glenn Avenue is targeting a June 1 reopening at their brick-and-mortar location with counter sales and carryout only. The store will continue to offer online sales and curbside pickup as well as shipping.

Glean

Re-Opening May 15

Short North lifestyle shop Glean is slated to re-open on May 15 with limited in-store hours to start (Noon to 7pm Wednesday through Saturday and Noon to 5pm on Sunday) with in-store pickup available for online orders. Hand sanitizer will also be available and bath and body test/samples will be removed until further notice.

STUMP 

Re-Opening May 14

Local plant store STUMP will reopen both their Italian Village and German Village locations on May 14, but will now be closed on Mondays and Tuesday for the time being. The store will continue to offer curbside pickup for online shoppers.

Elizabeth’s Records

Clintonville vinyl shop Elizabeth’s Records will relaunch their brick-and-mortar location on May 18 with reduced hours of operation (Noon to 6pm, Monday through Saturday). The owners of the shop will enforce a four customer maximum, and curbside pickup is encouraged. Anyone interested in selling records can only do so by advance appointment.

Rocket Fizz

Re-Opening May 15
944 N. High Street — Short North

The local franchise of candy shop Rocket Fizz will relaunch (pun intended) in the Short North on May 15. The store will featured limited hours (Noon to 6pm Tuesday through Sundays) for the time being and will offer curbside and in-store pickup for email orders. Hand sanitizer and disposable masks will both be available along with gloves for bulk candy.

Boomerang Room Vintage

Re-Opening May 15
3274 N. High Street — Clintonville

This Clintonville-based home decor and furniture store will re-open their doors on May 15 with reduced hours of operation (11am to 6pm on Fridays and Saturdays, Noon to 5pm on Sundays). Additionally, the Boomerang Room offers pickup and shipping for online orders.

Big Fun

Re-Opening May 19
672 N. High Street — Short North

Vintage toy and gift shop Big Fun is holding off on re-opening until May 19 and keeping hours limited to 11am to 7pm Tuesday through Sunday. The owners ask that customers wear masks and are keeping customer safety at the top of their priority list.

Flower Child

Re-Opening May 15
233 E. Fifth Avenue — Italian Village

Vintage warehouse Flower Child is re-opening to the public on Friday, May 15th with normal store hours. The shop will feature sanitization stations for customers and will be selling masks for $1 each.
