Yeah Me Too…. Coffee

[YMT]Yeah, Me Too

3005 Indianola Ave.

Clintonville

No Phone

No Website

Monday to Saturday

7 AM to 6 PM

Yeah Me Too is a very small coffee shop in Clintonville. If the place had a motto - it would be: just coffee - no perks and no pretense. I don’t really drink coffee but all of my friends have raved about this simple shop for over a year. YMT sells four types of coffee to take home to your coffee machine and usually has one type available to drink when you drop in. There is no place to sit, no Wi Fi, no gimmicks, no frills - just coffee. Everything is simple - hence no phone, no web site, no marketing - they just sell coffee. There may be a few baked goods from Pattycake Vegan Bakery and/or Wellness Forum Foods (Del Sroufe) in case you need a snack as you head out the door but that is more of an afterthought - maybe even a public service.

I’ve been purchasing my coffee here since the place opened - it’s right around the corner from my house! I love it and I can’t wait until they purchase a new bag of Sumatra!

Nothing but love from me. I’m only an occasional coffee drinker but I enjoy stopping in when I can. The owners are some of the sweetest people I know and it’s named after one of my dearest friends who I think is sorely missed in this city. I’m glad a little piece of Jerry Wick gets to live on in this excellent, locally owned coffee shop!

I can’t believe they don’t even have a phone - that seems crazy! No one to call & ask for hours or directions…

Word of mouth, the best advertisement (and cheapest) out there. I’ll have to check this place out.

Great review! The no phone/website/etc is really the charm of the place, and the folks there are super nice. I always think of YMT as the best example of doing one thing and doing it REALLY well. Notice how they roast the coffee themselves, grind it only seconds before brewing (w/a burr grinder), and French press it. Judging by the coffee knowledge I’ve gleaned from my coffee geek friends, this is one of the best ways to do coffee.

    Very good coffee.

Bring your own stainless mug. You won’t need/want 1/2 and 1/2. It is that good.

I’d been hearing rumors that it was going to shut down for some time now. However, I asked David, the guy who was most often manning the counter during the day, a few weeks ago and he said he knew nothing of it. Now maybe he just wasn’t allowed to say. But, it definitely looks as though they are gone. I have to say that the coffee there was pretty bad. But I was a regular there because of its close proximity to both home and work and, most of all, because of the always very friendly service. I hope that the people who worked there have other things lined up because they were always very kind.

    Sad,

I liked to read and drink coffee there. I met a few neighborhood people there too. It will be missed, even though their coffee wasn’t the greatest. The people were super nice.

Well, a very good cup of coffee needs nothing else to be good, not 1/2 and 1/2 or whatever cream you’ve got there, not even sugar. I grew up drinking Sumatra/Mandeling, as well as Luwak coffee. Both coffees are Arabica; nothing beats the taste of Arabica. And oh, gotta have it black to really understand what does it mean to have a good cup of coffee.

Their coffee is flavored?? As in, some sort of hazelnut flavoring or something? I have a hard time imagining hard-core java fiends doing that…. Or did you just mean “good coffee”? (Anyone know what kinds of beans, other than Sumatra, they roast?)

Just for the record, it’s not flavored, just has a good flavor. Their coffee is really great. They roast it for whatever is best for the terroir of the bean. They have a rotating stock from all coffee regions. Highly recommended.

Really. I almost never see coffeeshops with rotating stocks; they usually grab a few varietals, or come up with a blend, and stick with it. That’s really striking. And if they’re as coffee-crazy as everyone seems to be saying, I’m guessing this rotation is based on new and/or interesting arrivals, as in, it was a good harvest for Ethiopian Harrar this year and we got some in — that sort of thing?

I’ve got to meet these guys and drink their coffee. Funny, it’s actually the second time tonight that they’ve been recommended to me. A shame they’re so far north.

I just went there for the first time since moving to the neighborhood - paid $13 a pound for a nice Sumatra. So much for $12. Considering it might be the best coffee I’ve ever tasted (no exaggeration), I’m not going to complain. They have my business.

Still don’t understand why they wouldn’t have a web presence - that’s so easy and costs little to nothing to put up/administer. Would that be “selling out” in some way? Weird.
