After a 10-year anniversary celebration in November, Worthington’s House Wine has announced plans to open a second location in Bexley next year. The retailer offering wine by the ounce or glass opened at 644 High St. in 2007. Their new store, slated to open its doors in February, will occupy the space at 2262 E. Main St., across the street from Capital University.
“We’ve had a mutual interest in Bexley and we’re looking forward to being in the heart of a strong community like we’ve experienced in Worthington,” said Donnie Austin, House Wine owner.
House Wine offers a DIY customer experience, where guests can choose the number of ounces of wine they’d like to try from the shop’s Enomatic wine dispensing machines. At any given time, they have 24 different wines at the stations and 12 different beers on tap to choose from. Aside from regular operations, House Wine also hosts beer and wine tasting events every week.
Austin will manage the new Bexley location, which sits adjacent to Giuseppe’s Ritrovo and the Drexel Theatre. As he takes it over full time, he’s leaving long-time employee Jim Scarfpin in charge of the original Worthington store. Other responsibilities, like overseeing inventory and events, will be handled by Austin while Scarfpin manages store operations.
The idea to open up a second House Wine in Bexley came naturally, said Austin.
“There has been a number of customers driving to us from Bexley for wine,” he said, “So we’re happy that we can become a prat of the Bexley community and be right in their backyard.”
