Wolfgang Puck is an instantly recognizable chef who cemented his name-brand reputation with his L.A. restaurant Spagio. Though some of that famous place’s luster may have faded, the one-time eatery to A-list Hollywood stars helped catapult Puck into multi-business mogul and multi-millionaire status.
While I’m not a fan of all of Puck’s enterprises (see this week’s Taste Test), one of the Austrian-born chef’s brainchildren I can wholeheartedly recommend is his chain of casual eateries. In fact, I’m constantly surprised by the quality and value I find at the Lane Avenue Wolfgang Puck Express.

blech. Wolfgang Express is mediocre and overpriced. Go across the street to (locally owned) Le Chatelaine for their $8 lunch (at least the last time I went). Cup of soup, small delicious Caesar salad and small ham & brie on French Bread. Puffy macaroon for dessert!
+1!
Le Chatelaine is wonderful! Really cozy too, and when it’s warm, the patio is great!
For me Wolfgang Puck is a person that is hard not to like. I saw a biography on the guy and it is remarkable story. He basically knew he wanted to be a chef from a very early age, had to practically disown his family to try and do what he wanted to do. Creative, smart, driven, he certainly deserves his sucess. Pretty much all of his restaurant that I have been to serve great food on a consistent basis and that is hard to do.
I’ll just give a big +1 to that.
i like it
i don’t think its too overpriced. if you get a pasta dish its like 10 bucks but that comes with a salad and bread too. its good for “fast food”
Definitely a step above Panera for the same price, and hey, if your wife is shopping at Ann Taylor Loft, why not?
The restaurant at the Walker museum in Minneapolis is a Wolfgang Puck enterprise. I had a fabulous meal there tonight with colleagues from OCLC– it was expensive but excellent. And the service was fantastic. Definitely worth the price.
I’ll give the place over on Lane a try, but it certainly can’t replace the lunch deal at Le Chatelaine.
