White Castle to offer 87-minute burger sale

COLUMBUS, Ohio — In recognition of National Hamburger Month, which is celebrated in May, and the company’s 87th anniversary, White Castle System Inc. will turn back the clocks for 87 minutes of vintage-priced burgers.
On May 27, White Castle will offer the company’s Slyder burgers for 27 cents from 2 p.m. to 3:27 p.m., limit 10 burgers per customer. Selected locations in all White Castle restaurant markets will participate in the promotion.
White Castle opened its first restaurant in Wichita, Kan., in 1921, selling its burgers for 5 cents. The price of a Slyder didn’t reach the 27-cent mark until the early 1980s. While prices have always varied from city to city, the average price of a White Castle hamburger today is 53 cents.
I think we know where Cyclist will be.
The limit is 10 per person. That means at least 5 people will have to help Cyclist acquire an adequate amount of burgers
I smell a WCRS live remote broadcast. If they can do that.

That won’t be all you smell.
CU Meetup? :D
Should I take the afternoon off?
I’ll need the afternoon off if I have ten of those.
and most of the next day too!
I will get him some if he will make me his slider sushi rolls.

Both use exactly 10 hamburgers…
I have yet to experience the pleasure of White Castle. I think I was scared off by friends who swear by sliders as a cut-rate purgative.
I’ve been recently corrupted. Compliments of Drew.
It’s worth trying. Do you have a sense for adventure?! 8)
I’ve never had it either. Mostly because my family never ate fast food growing up. Also because we did not have White Castle in my area of NY. And then there is the fact that I do not eat meat … so I do not anticipate trying it anytime soon.

Sure, as long as there’s a clean restroom.
its gross. every time i would visit ohio when i was little my cousin made us go to white castle. we don’t have them back home.
the little chicken sliders are ok but other than that barf.
i hate skyline too.
I never understood the whole White Castle/stomach upset connection. My digestive system is completely unaffected by the stuff and has been that way since I was a kid.
Skyline chili does nothing to me either.
I’m a weirdo I guess.
Your dislike of WC is disturbing, but in the quoted sentence you partially redeemed yourself.

There aren’t any where I grew up either – or Skylines. Which I also think is gross.

They have many vegetarian options
Fries
Onion Chips
Toast
Hashbrowns
Eggs
Coke
Tartar Sauce
Mozzerella Stix
Milk Shake
Coffee
Water
Apple Pie
Cookies
The burgers are sometimes gross. The best food is the chicken slyders and the onion chips and the fish w/ cheese. The hash browns are tasty. I am also told that they have a very excellent coffee.

It’s impressive and distrurbing all at the same time :)
I had my first real White Castle experience (meaning I ordered something other than cheese sticks) with Lew a few weeks ago and thank goodness I was drunk. I can only eat one, maybe two, of those burgers though, even drunk I know it’s not a good thing. I also think it’s odd that I don’t even think about WC unless I’m already three sheets to the wind. Never even crosses my mind.
I’ve had Skyline twice, both times because a group I was with decided that we just had to go to Skyline. Can’t say that we’d have ended up there had the group appointed me benevolent dictator. (Had the group appointed me non-benevolent dictator, I’d have considered making them go to Skyline … except that they apparently didn’t consider that quite as harsh a punishment as I would.)
I still have yet to try White Castle. My dad says he used to eat sliders back in the day. And then he turned 25.
