What the Rock?! Leaving The Short North

After ten years in the Short North, everyone’s favorite name-punctuated retail shop What the Rock?! is pulling up roots and heading north to Clintonville.

“In 2017, we will be trading our digs in the Short North Arts District for a storefront on Indianola Avenue,” stated husband-and-wife owners Mike Renner and Heather Ziegler on Facebook yesterday.

The original WTR shop opened at 1116 North High Street in 2007, next door to Barrel on High. After just a year and a half in business there, Renner and Ziegler hopped a block north to their current location at 1194 North High Street, where they will remain until December 24th prior to the move to 3039 Indianola Avenue.

“Heather and I have always liked that block of businesses, which include Elizabeth’s Records, Unfettered and the new cat cafe Eat, Purr, Love — and we have been keeping our eyes open for a spot there for a while,” added Renner. “We had also been talking to Ken Eppstein about the possibility of teaming up with Nix Comics. This move will do just that, as Ken will create a 10 foot by 10 foot store within a store where he will be selling comics, records and art.”

The new What the Rock?! does not yet have an opening date at their new home, but Renner expects that it will be re-opened by late January.
