The founder of bonoPIZZA, a parlor known for Napoli-style pies, will open this weekend in a Delaware County storefront that dates back to the 1880s.
The bonoPIZZA name is a familiar one to many Delawareans, who frequented Yerkes’ Kilbourne store, a rural outpost that closed last year. He cited landlord issues as his reason for closing.
It’s the same basic menu as the Kilbourne store, with an emphasis on made-to-order pizzas using a scratch crust. He has 19 specialty pies plus a build-your-own section, in which customers have the choice to use a tomato sauce or pesto base and a variety of ingredients. Pies are $8 each, or two for $15. The store also will have a signature wood-fired oven, handcrafted by Yerkes.
The only difference from the other stores is Belgian waffles — real Belgian waffles, Yerkes stressed. They have replaced crepes on the menu for one simple reason: They’re easier to transport. The parlor also will offer two salads, two panini sandwiches, plus espresso and cappuccino.

thanks walker, i can’t wait to check it out :P
Yeah, it’s actually a good thing you mentioned it. Otherwise my eyes may have glazed over that article as I thought to myself “Who cares about some random pizza joint in Delaware County?”
Let us know what you think. I wouldn’t mind trying it out sometime! :D
I read that article today as well, and it piqued my interest because I grew up way out there and it used to be a rickety old bait shop where I would buy cigarettes when I was underage, and my friends would buy cases of Natty lite . . .
Looks like they might have spruced things up a bit since then!
bonopizza was SO amazing (and i trust the new location will be just as good, if not better) it *almost* makes me not want to tip other people off to it.
trust me when i say that -only- a place as sinfully delicious as bonopizza could bring that type of selfish and conniving behavior out of me.
bonopizza used to pack their small venue in kilbourne every night of the week they were open. the owners make you feel like family when you dine and they were stacked to the ceiling with the coolest kitsch. all table service is a random assortment of thrift store finds, the kind that makes you feel like a kid again, eating from the one really cool plate and goblet that doesn’t match your mom’s dishes but that you won’t let her throw away.
i can only guess that their new digs will be as popular, if not more so.

that sounds like a great place. I will definitely have to check it out. Too bad it’s closed today, pizza sounded like a good idea. But, someone in my neighboorhood is BBQ’ing. I think that wins for today :)
I just wanted to let you know that Kilbourne Pizza is open back for business. Me and my husband has purchase the shop from Bruno and is using his menu. So please come visit us!
