Wexner Center Helps Rebrand Gateway Film Center

By: Walker

The movie theater at the South Campus Gateway is going through another management change as Landmark Theaters exits after less than two years at the helm. The seven-screen theater will be rebranded as “The Gateway Film Center” and managed in-house by Campus Partners. Additionally, a formal partnership with The Wexner Center Film and Video Department will allow for additional programming at the venue. More information about the changes can be found at wexarts.org, and Melissa Starker from The Alive has some additional details on her blog The Bad & The Beautiful.

  • Very interesting news to read today. I’m sure the Wexner Center will bring in some very interesting stuff, but I’m wondering what Campus Partners has in mind for the other programming? Mainstream hollywood films with a wide appeal to students, or more offbeat releases that might appeal to the Drexel/Studio35/Grandview crowd?

  • I hope it doesn’t change too much. This was my favorite theatre.

  • I’m wondering what C.P. will do as well, Walker. It has the potential to be a really great collaborative effort with a film mix that appeals  to just about everyone, if done right.

For me, I have to say it’s a great venue with the amazingly cheap and convenient parking. I can park there, do a little shopping, or dine before or after a movie for like $2 parking.

I’m hoping for the best here.
