  • Absolutely! The lead singer / bassist is one of my oldest friends (and one of the reasons I first came out to Columbus), so I can vouch for some high talent and good times.

  • I LOVE Vic’s always have.  I do miss Ruthie though…sigh….

BEST BURGER IN TOWN = Vic’s Burger

  • Is this completely new ownership?  I think Vic’s has the best patio in town and it really seems it should be the bohemian refuge of Columbus. For some reason it has not reached its potential yet, but here is hoping. I could see some minor changes bringing me there often.

  • No concrete confirmation, but rumor has it the owner of Cafe Apropos now owns it.

  • Will they be striving to actually serve people food at lunch?  It sucks that the place is within walking distance of where I work, but had to be avoided because you never knew if 1) they’d have any food, 2) there’d be anyone there to cook the food, or 3) anyone would notice that you’d even come in.

I like to hoof it for lunch!

  • I have to agree w MooCow-you never know what will happen when you walk in there to eat. Hopefully the new owners can keep the laid back Vic’s vibe and manage to serve food :)

  • Von– Ruthie works w/me now at Omega in the Market!

  • Mister MooCow Says: Will they be striving to actually serve people food at lunch?

I’m not a regular customer, but this happened to us late at night three years ago (has it really been that long?) and took about two hours to get some food late at night despite being the only people in the place.

  • Not sure how many people subscribe to Columbus Monthly, but they have a brief article in this months edition about the renovation.  Its under the same ownership as Cafe Apropos now, and they’re doing (what sounds like) extensive renovations to the space in addition to revamping their menu.
I can’t speak for any staffing changes, but it seems like they’re invested in making a success of it.

  • Hey all, just wanted to clarify that it is NOT the same owner as Caffe Apropos.  Anton Wood owns that.  My husband and I bought Vic’s -  (Andreas Kleinert and Kristy Venrick.)  It’s our first restaurant, but we saw potential, loved the overall vibe and are trying super hard to make the place shine AND have people served (food) within 20 min.  :)

We’ve added liquor, over 60 beers, German schnitzel, pizzas and more specialty burgers.  Kept the amazing breakfasts and grilled sandwiches.  We’re working on adding a larger A/C unit as soon as we have the $ for it.   Check out http://www.victoriansmidnightcafe.com for more info and a listing of the live music!

  • If you are open to suggestions, give the folks at the City a call about setting you up with some bike racks.

  • If we had room in the front, we would ask the city to add one. But, it would have to be added on the side of the building (Forsythe and 5th.) Would bikers be okay with that, as they would not be able to see their bikes?

  • Your food is delicious … the only thing, I see, that needs fixed asap is the service (like you said).  Fix that and I’m sure the place will do fine.

  • Oh I guess one more request ….. love the grease filled breakfast, but if you could add some healthier options I know my girlfriend and i would come more often.  Maybe a fresh fruit plate with egg whites, or whole wheat blueberry pancakes.
