Urban-Spirit Coffee Shop opening soon in the King Lincoln District
January 17, 2008
Now residents on the Near East Side will not have to travel so far for a gourmet cup of coffee! Nestled in what is known as Columbus’ Cradle of Jazz, Urban-Spirit Coffee Shop, Ltd is a coffee shop and art gallery reminiscent of the bustling spirit of Long Street during the 1920′s.
Discover Urban-Spirit Coffee Shop, at 893 E. Long Street, in the historic “Alpha Building” the site of the first African-American owned hospital in Columbus, Ohio. This newly restored space on the corner of 17th and Long St. was formerly built and occupied by Dr. William A. Method, known as “Dean of Negro Physicians”, thereby increasing its appeal.
Urban-Spirit Coffee Shop, Ltd. is scheduled to open on February 19th, 2008 in honor of Dr. Method’s birthday. Enjoy a Method Mocha and take a walk down memory lane, as you listen to the sounds of melodious jazz. For more information about Urban-Spirit Coffee Shop, Ltd. please visit Urban-Spirit.com. It is truly “The Taste of Innovation” TM.

I can’t wait for this to open. Then I can stop getting my coffee in Bexley. If we could just get a Chipotle in the neighborhood, I would finally have no more reason to ever go into Bexley.
We going to all go on opening day and have a CU mini-meetup?
Not a bad idea!
I’m up for that, it would be a great way to help them start off with a bang.
I am down for it.

I’ve been wondering when they were going to open. I even sent an email yesterday.
Ok, so they open Feb 19, which is a Tuesday, and their Tuesday hours are 6:30am to 6:30pm.
Should we do a morning meetup, evening meetup, or both?
My vote is for both. How about 7:00am and 6:00pm? People can go before or after work, or both.
7:00=brutal
I’ll make it there though, maybe for lunch.
Jesus, I don’t even get up at 7 am for my job. For a cup of coffee…
See you there.
If anyone is job hunting, I received this email today:
Please inform potential applicants to submit a resume to:
893 E. Long St. (corner of 17th and Long)
Interviews are being conducted beginning this Saturday and will complete over the course of next week.
Desired applicants include Near East Residents, artists, college students, etc.
THANKS!

I’m gonna try, god help me. I should be able to make 7AM… ok to be realistic maybe more like 7:30 for me, but can someone email the owner to let her know that we will be there? Just want to make sure that they are prepared on opening morning for a horde of cranky, sleepy caffine-less urbanists decending upon them en masse.
Just want to make sure the coffee doesn’t run out before I get there.
We could do 7:30 if that works better. I wasn’t sure what time everyone needs to be at work. I typically don’t get up at 7 either.
I’m good for 7 , 7:30 whatever.
