Tomorrow’s Super Tuesday primary voting event doesn’t include Ohio, but that isn’t stopping Republican frontrunner Donald Trump from making a pit stop in Columbus. The presidential candidate visited Columbus last November, gathering before a crowd of thousands at the Convention Center, but tomorrow’s appearance will likely be a bit more brief. Trump will host his appearance from Port Columbus at the Signature Flight Hangar at Noon.
Trump’s appearance comes on the heels of a controversial weekend, where the candidate declined multiple opportunities to denounce the endorsement he’s been give from former Ku Klux Klan Grand Wizard David Duke. Instead, Trump pled ignorance, claiming he doesn’t know anything about Duke or about his support from white supremacist hate groups.
Both Democrat and Republican rivals have publicly chided Trump’s response.
Speaking of rivals, both Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton will make an appearance in Columbus on March 13th, just two days ahead of Ohio’s primary voting day. Both candidates will speak at the Ohio Democratic Party Legacy Dinner at the Convention Center, which also serves as a party fundraiser.
“Ohio will once again be the center of the political universe in 2016, and we’re thrilled that both of our Democratic candidates will be able to address Ohio voters in person as they are heading to the polls for the presidential primary,” stated ODP Chairman David Pepper. “Ohio Democrats helped to win the White House for President Obama twice, and we’re already building the infrastructure to send a Democrat back to the White House.”
Other presidential candidates Ben Carson, Marco Rubio, John Kasich and Ted Cruz currently have no Columbus events listed on their campaign website calendars.
