Columbus Underground is celebrating Valentine’s Day a week early with Treat Week! We’re profiling all types of desserts, baked goods and other local sweets.
I stopped in Cookie Cravings Bakery for their brunch last Saturday and it is very difficult to limit yourself to one item when there are so many lovelies to choose from. So the Pistachio Berry Sticky Bun also ended up in my bag. How lucky I was to get one fresh out of the oven! This item is also one that is being tested, but it should definitely be placed on the menu full-time. Usually with sticky buns, I can’t wait to get to the gooey soft center where all of the flavors combine in a mega sweet-fest, but this one was love at first bite.
It’s a little thing at only about two inches all around (and only $2!), but they’ve packed it full of flavor. The super flaky pastry’s outer shell had bits of caramelized syrup (delish!) stuck to it, on top, the pistachios provide a great crunch to the sweet blueberries and blackberries, and inside, a berry sauce that melts away in your mouth… I regret not getting more of these to take home!
