Treat to Try: Miniature Key Lime Pie at Chocolate Café

By: Anne

The Chocolate Café in Grandview has been open almost five years. The restaurant has an array of chocolates and other candies available, as well as specialty coffee drinks, soups and sandwiches, cheesecakes and other desserts. I was in the mood for something light one afternoon and decided to try their “taste of summer,” a miniature Key Lime Pie ($3.99). It’s a cute little dessert, about 3 inches in diameter and about an inch and a half tall.

Instead of being inside a tart shell, the Chocolate Café’s version is a circle of key lime filling atop a base of graham crumbs. It’s topped with a whipped cream that has a firm texture and was served with sweet whipped cream on the side. It’s easy to eat, not too rich and the lime filling is only slightly tart. The toasted coconut on the top was a nice touch. Definitely a nice treat for summer.

Chocolate Café is located at 1855 Northwest Blvd., Columbus, OH 43212. Their summer hours are Monday – Thursday from 8am-10pm, Friday from 8am-11pm, Saturday from 9am-11pm and Sunday from 9am-9pm. Visit them online at www.chocolatecafecolumbus.com.
