Columbus Underground is celebrating Valentine’s Day a week early with Treat Week! We’re profiling all types of desserts, baked goods and other local sweets.

Looking for a traditional pie to entertain with? Or maybe just enjoy for your own dessert tonight? Stop in Just Pies. A family owned business, Just Pies uses only fresh ingredients. You can find them in three spots around town – in Columbus, Westerville, and Gahanna. I tried the six inch version of their Pie of the Month – The Resse’s Peanut Butter Silk Pie. Hidden throughout the super creamy peanut butter filling are chopped up Reese’s peanut butter cups. The whole thing is topped with a huge mound of freshly whipped cream, then sprinkled with crushed peanuts and cinnamon.

This pie is offered in three sizes, a 6″ for $6, 8″ for $9.25, and a 10″ for $12.95. You could probably get anywhere between 4-6 servings from the 6″ pie. The three inch height of this delightfully creamy dessert is 1/2 creamy peanut butter and 1/2 whipped topping. There’s no need for ice cream when you’re eating this pie! It’s rich and delicious and the chopped Reese’s peanut butter cups add just the right amount of chocolate. The crust is very flaky, which Just Pies attributes to their secret ingredient of lard. When you just want a straightforward and delicious pie, stop in Just Pies.

Just Pies is located at 5212-B N. High Street, Columbus, OH 43214; 736-1 Northfield Drive, Westerville, OH 43082; and Silver Lane Center, 1024 North Hamilton Road, Gahanna, OH 43230. Hours vary. Visit www.just-pies.com for more information.

I’m honestly not much of a dessert eater. I’d rather eat more of a delicious entree and skip dessert.

But this pie is seriously an early contender for best dessert of 2013 for me. It was THAT good.

I’ve had this, and it is dangerously good. I could have eaten the whole thing if there wasn’t a group of us cleaning out the pie pan.

What a heartbreak that this is actually January’s pie, and hasn’t been available since before this was written.

    I feel robbed.

Sorry, I bought this on Friday Feb 1 and thought it was for February since the sign was up.
