Lots of new trailers released this past week for upcoming video games, films and tv shows! Our “Trailer Roundup” series provides a sampling of what’s coming soon each week for our pop-culture and multimedia-savvy readers. Here’s the latest and greatest:
The Accountant
Ben Affleck does his best Rainman impression for The Accountant — a story of a mathematical and cognitive prodigy that uses his skills to assist crime organizations. The trailer is compelling, and the cast list (Anna Kendrick, J.K. Simmons, Jeffrey Tambor, John Lithgow, etc) is equally impressive. Watch for it in theaters on September 23.
Homefront: The Revolution
2011’s Homefront is getting a sequel five years later with Homefront: The Revolution. The story takes place in the not-so-distant future of 2029 where you control Ethan Brady, a young Philadelphian rebel that must rise up to overthrow the North Korean invaders that have taken control of parts of the United States. The game hits Playstation 4, Xbox One and PCs on May 17th.
Orange is the New Black: Season 4
Piper and crew return to prison for a fourth season of Orange is the New Black, which teases out an upcoming fight between Piper and Maria. Cast speculation aside though, because the full season will drop on Netflix on June 17th, so you can binge out all at once in just a few weeks.

The Neon Demon
A second teaser for Nicolas Winding Refn’s gets the red-band treatment for for very brief blood, sex an nudity, making this new thriller all the more thrilling. Cue the thumping synthwave soundtrack and save the date for sometime in June-ish.

Nerve
What if instead of using Snapchat… Snapchat used you? That’s basically the idea of Nerve, a technology thriller where a real-time video broadcast platform engages hapless millennials in wreckless behavior for fame and cash. Of course, things eventually go too far, and the Stephen Hawking-voiced app forces the players to continue to push forward to survive. Heads to theaters on July 27.
Assassin’s Creed
Movies based on video games are more often times bad instead of good. Except for the Super Mario Bros movie, which is so bad that it’s good. Anyway, Ubisoft is tempting fate with it’s popular and long-running Assassin’s Creed franchise. Michael Fassbender is thrust into the role of protagonist Desmond Miles, who is thrust into the memories of his assassin ancestors to retrieve information needed in the present day. Gotta wait awhile for this one… not coming out until December 21st.
Battlefield 1
Don’t let the name fool you. Battlefield one is not the first game in the Battlefield series It’s actually the 14th installment, which dates backs to the original Battlefield 1942, released in 2002. This latest installment is set during WWI (which technically makes it a prequel) and features both a single-player campaign as well as their large-scale 64-player multiplayer modes. The trailer is 100% cinematic though, so who knows what the gameplay will actually look like. Coming to Windows, Playstation 4 and Xbox One on October 21st.
Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk
Director Ang Lee puts his stamp on converting a novel about a celebrated soldier into a sweeping feature film. BLLHW (as I’m sure it will become known) tells the tale of the celebration of a 19 year old solider’s war battle that from his perspective was the worst day of his life. The horrors of war told in modern times. Coming to theaters in November.
The Woods
Touted as a unique and terrifying experience, The Woods (not to be confused with The Cabin in the Woods, Cabin Fever, Evil Dead, etc) tells the tale of a group of kids getting attacked in the woods by something evil. It’s gotten a lot of praise as being the scariest thing ever if the trailer is to be believed, so check it out for yourself on September 16th if that’s your thing.
Queen of Katwe
Move over Searching for Bobby Fischer, Disney wants to dethrone your iconic chess film status with Queen of Katwe. This new film tells the story of a young girl from Uganda who discovers a talent for the game of chess, and struggles to balance her family’s needs with her own dreams and aspirations as she rises up the ranks. Coming to theaters on September 23rd.
