The Zach Scott Mayoral Campaign announced today that Tracy Maxwell Heard, former Democratic Leader in the Ohio House of Representatives, would be joining as both the Campaign Manager and Director of Communications.
“I’m supporting Zach Scott for simple and obvious reasons — I believe he is the right man at the right time,” said Heard. “I see him as the people’s candidate.”
Heard has over two decades of experience in politics, and has represented Ohio’s 26th district since 2007, which includes most of southeast Columbus. She completed her term limit in that office at the end of 2014.
In addition to today’s leadership addition, Scott also announced two new initiatives added to his campaign platform: an “open checkbook financial transparency” policy for the City of Columbus, as well as an effort to ban lobbyists from serving on local boards and commissions. The latter of which comes only a few days after the removal of local lobbyist John Raphael from the Franklin County Convention Facilities Authority and the Franklin County Veterans Memorial board.
“We must work to reduce even the perception of impropriety in government,” said Scott. “The privilege of public service bears a responsibility to preserve the public’s trust.”
