  • Is this honestly news?  Looks more like an advertisement to me

  • Did you honestly just type that?

  • Oh…and menu looks good. I’ll hafta check it out soon.

  • that sweet potato hash sounds amazing…and I’m definitely down for the sausage gravy mess.

  • I want the sweet potato hash too…but I thiiiiiink I want mine with fried eggs on top. I’d go for the quesadilla too…can’t resist avocado.

  • Thanks for posting this Walker! We are really excited about the new brunch menu. Tip Top used to be the Grapevine Cafe and they were well known for their Sunday brunch. We promised the Grapevine regulars that we would keep brunch going down there, it just took more time than we’d hoped!

Tip Top’s Kitchen Manager Keith used to run the old Grapevine Cafe’s brunch, we are happy to have his breakfast expertise live on in the space. Both Keith and Tim have spent a lot of time, care and effort putting the menu together, it’s a menu in progress and we always appreciate your feedback.

Keith is also busy on the roof planting this year’s garden…we love summer on Gay Street! Look for the roof garden to hit your plate for brunch, lunch and dinner soon.

  • Socialist Agenda Says: Is this honestly news?  Looks more like an advertisement to me

I’m going to humor you for a second and pretend that you don’t just have a grudge against Elizabeth Lessner and say that Yes, this is news. A local restaurant making significant changes to their menus, hours, or services is worthy information that restaurant-goers should be aware of. You know that.

I could point out that we’ve also recently announced menu changes at Rosendales, Confluence Park, and Rise and Dine just to name a few others. Why haven’t you aired similar complaints about those posts?

Anyway, for the sake of keeping this on topic… if you’ve got any further concerns about “what is news” please feel free to email me directly. I’m always more than happy to help educate.

  • This looks very good.  This is one place I’ve wanted to visit for awhile but always get sidetracked, generally around Due Amici.  I need to stop by here, for lunch at the very least.

  • If you can jump really far, you might be able to reach Tip Top from Due Amici. You’d have to clear the gate though.

  • Due Amici does a terrific bloody mary bar and brunch on Sundays. Barrio Tapas and MoJoe on the Cap also have a great brunch. It’s been really exciting for all of us on Gay Street and downtown to watch business pick up on weekends and late night. I am hoping more business moves downtown and the existing ones stay open later hours and on weekends, it’s been nice to see downtown waking up during off-hours.

  • Considering that I’m trying to change my plans tomorrow because of this, yeah, it qualifies as news.

  • Thanks for the MoJoe plug, Liz.  I think this is the type of news I love to see on CU.  Affordable brunch AND a fun menu are exciting to me.  I don’t go to the same place every week.  We have been getting some great breakfast chow from Cafe Corner on Sundays.  I will be in soon for Sals Big Mess.  That will help me get to my goal weight.

  • Well I think it is great! It took us at the Banana Bean 4 years to get T shirts for the staff, now that is what you call taken some time then we hoped to get something done! I am always amazed that when people try to do something and are happy about it someone always has to come along and try to put a hanger in the fan! We at the Bean have plenty of experience with that, we just keep doing what we love and go on. I love the fact you are open until 4pm that gives us a chance to come eat brunch!

  • heh…there’s plenty of room in this town for some loving of Sal’s Big Mess AND Bananas Foster French Toast, no doubt.

  • I’m headed down to Tip Top to help out with the new menu but now I want to bail and head to Banana Bean, MoJoe and Cafe Corner for some good eats. There needs to be more Sundays in the week.

  • The hash is calling my name, but I have to try the mess at least once.  Seriously, hash browns and biscuits and gravy on the same plate?!  Where were you when I used to have serious hangovers???  :)

  • OMG.  This is big news. Can Tip Top get any better?

I love it that the already much-beloved Tip Top Kitchen and Cocktails keeps striving to get better.

Obviously it was not content with being a totally unique looking, wood-and-brick heavy, proudly Columbus-dwelling, 19th-century-homage paying, patio-equipped, hipster (and hell, everyone else) hangout bringing peeps to our neglected Downtown.
