Tip Top Kitchen & Cocktails

First up, it is absolutely imperative that you order the eggplant fries at the Tip Top. I know, I know, the sweet potato fries are delicious, too, but the thing about the eggplant fries is that they are so surprisingly amazing.
The decor of the Tip Top is dedicated to Ohio memorabilia – our table featured an ancient picture of the Circus House (which is at the SW corner of Buttles & Dennison in Victorian Village); it was taken so long ago that Dennison was a broad street – no sidewalks necessary – filled with horse & carriages. It was pretty cool to see something so familiar and yet so strange at the same time.
The Tip Top is a gem in the otherwise rather listless downtown area at night. Don’t let the dark facade steer you away – the interior is warm and charming, the food is generous, reasonably priced and hearty, and the service is casually low-key. A great first date spot.

Tip Top Kitchen & Cocktails

You know we all get a case of the 4pm hungries and now you’ve got to be posting a big pic of eggplant fries.
What are you trying to do to us?
I reeeeally need to get back soon. How did I go so long without eating there?!? Ridiculous.
yes. i need tip top now.
You should be completely ashamed and forced to buy us all dinner as your pittance.
Pot roast for all!!!
Or soy crap for some.
Either way. :D
We ate there Saturday for lunch. Corn chowder and eggplant fries make an excellent combo.
what else did you do on saturday?
Ummmm…
campus to short north mid-afternoon pub crawl…
It wasn’t my idea though.
And it all started with cowbells and bloody marys at the lovely Tip Top.
That’s totally my meal there too! :D
[color=darkred:b9908807ca]i ADORE lisa the waitress’ blog… foodies unit! :-) i am disappointed those are eggplant fries but whiskey-based drinks… i am so there  speaking of whiskey… if ever in the Dayton/Cincy area try out Kentucky Bourbon Beer at “The Pub”. http://www.tavernrestaurantgroup.com/ Beer fermented (or whatev it does i’m no bill nye) in whiskey soaked barrels. *drool*
I always add in a cowbell or six for good measure too.
Last time I had the Pot Roast Sandwich and it was so juicy and so good!
Lisa’s blog is great. She’s really friendly too…gave me free tix to a great beer tasting event at Rosendale’s one evening.
And don’t discount the eggplant fries until you’ve tried them, they are fabulous and not at all what you’d think.
As for the whiskey drinks…you can have all of those. I can’t handle them. :D

Man…Tip Top, Banana Bean, what’s it take to get an invite from you kids.
Just for that, Janks, wanna go to Tip Top and tell Lauren and Sean they CAN’T come?
I admit I’ve not had the eggplant fries, but contra what Lisa said about you *having* to try the eggplant fries, the sweet potato fries are a pretty darn viable option, too.
I said this on another Tip Top thread and I’ll say it again here: if you’re going there for lunch, have not eaten in a day, and will not eat again for two, get the reuben. You’ll be all set. Best sandwich not from an actual deli that I’ve had in Columbus (and, of course, better ambiance).
Me three. I never thought I would be obsessed with corn chowder, let alone like it.
I also highly recommend the chicken salad with the ridiculously long name (something about honey-shallot-avocado). Mmm…and pot roast!Basically, Tip Top rocks my world.
The eggplant fries and the monte cristo are both so so so good. It’s like little explosions of heaven in your mouth with every bite.
This is great  I am going to be so f-in busy this weekend making pot roast sandwiches and eggplant fries for you hungry kiddos.
Kidding. Glad you all like it. I eat it for free 4+ times a week.
I heart the Blood Mary dipping sauce …
I order it with everything. Next time I’m just going to order it with Vodka and drink it down …
mmmmm
The next time you get the monte cristo, ask for a side of maple syrup. It is so damn good dipped in there. My friend Corey does it and it is so perfect with the french toasty bread and the smoky of the ham. For really. I swear.
i love tiptop and that they give discounts to bikers… oh and that lachewla has to do all my dishes. j/k!
Love tip top, love the eggplant fries too! And when anyone says anything bad about being in columbus I just chuckle cause where else am I gonna have a job down the street from a bar w/ good food and $1 PBRs??
Yeah, scoreboard.
