I just went there for my first time. I love the decor which definitely is signatory Lessner style and the service was really good. I must have to say their sweet potato fries are to die for.

Literally, that translates to "with a side of with juice for dipping". Something is served au jus, not WITH au jus (with with juice).

Just one of those stupid pet peeves that shouldn't bother me but does...

^ Yeah, we went twice last week and my wife got the monte cristo...loved it. I only got one bite!

My favorite sammich to date is the roast beef, caramalized onion marmalade, and provolone with a side of au jus for dipping. :shock:

I went here for the first time today and had a Monte Cristo and a beer.

It was delicious. The service was a little slow, but it was completely packed in there, so that's pretty excusable.

Man, that sandwich was really really good.

I love the dark wood & chandeliers and such — the inside of Tip Top looks great — but the whole “let’s show a lot of old-timey pictures of Columbus and/or Ohio” is HARDLY new – practically every pub, “americana” chain and family restaurant in Columbus has old local photos & memorabilia stapled to the walls… it’s such an overdone gimmick.

At Tip Top Kitchen and Cocktails, the liquor comes with a history lesson. "It's high-school civics class with whiskey," co-owner Elizabeth Lessner said.
Not that the recently opened Downtown spot requires a test afterward. At the very least, visiting is a little like going on an unsupervised field trip.
Every nook and elaborately dressed cranny is filled with photos, collages and knickknacks of state history -- from Ohio authors to the 1913 flood.
Exposed brick leads to a handsome dark-wood bar lit with ornate chandeliers and tabletop candles. The effect, especially after braving the construction along E. Gay Street, is immediately soothing.
Behind the bar, bottles of the hard stuff -- most giving off the deceptively gentle amber glow of scotch and bourbon -- compete for space with a flock of cardinal figurines.
Not surprisingly, the state bird gets more play than the state tree. Tip Top proves much like Lessner's Surly Girl Saloon and Betty's Fine Food & Spirits -- Short North establishments that feel distinctively local without relying on Buckeye-dominated decor.

i had grilled eggplant w/ mozzarella on a pretzel roll. my girlfriend had avocado chicken salad on a pretzel roll.

I went to TIP TOP last night and really liked the Columbus-centric decor and menu. I got some shoe sring fries that were awesome and crispy and a tasty side of spicy mayo too, but they were $5 bucks! There french fries for pete’s sake. Yeah there is also $1 off for bike riders on PBR. Nice patio with cool looking downtown buildings. I am going back again for sure.

Yeah, I'd say walking or biking (depending on where you live) is your best bet, with the bus being a good option as well.

If you must drive though, there's plenty of free meter parking available withing a two block radius if you know where to look. 8)
