Best Whiskey List: Tip Top Kitchen & Cocktails

Whiskey is the original American beverage. Our history is barrel-aged in the amber elixir, from the freedom-loving distillers who staged the country’s first tax rebellion through the cocktail culture of the swing-a-ding-ding ’60s.

More recently, though, the classic booze has been overshadowed by fruit-flavored vodka mixers on the one hand, and sometimes-stodgy scotch appreciation on the other. So let’s raise our lowball glasses and toast Tip Top Kitchen & Cocktails, the Downtown bar that’s made whiskey fun again.

    Best Whiskey List?

    I was really hoping Tip Top would win in the “Best Eggplant and Sweet Potato Fries” category.

    I love tip top more than probably anyone…but best whisk(e)y list? They have two single malt scotches, two Irish whiskeys…and most of their bourbon is from the Jim Beam family…They have Jack Daniel’s, but no Gentlemen Jack or Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel.

    Best egg-plant fries-yes. Best bartenders-yes. Best-owners-yes. They just need a little more of a selection on the high end whisk(e)y…but I may be the only one who cares about that…. :D

    Hi Maxeck, we made a whiskey drink list because we were sick of the shmancy martini craze, it was simply a backlash to $12 pink drinks. We like selling $3 whiskey and RC’s to our downtown pals as the area seemed saturated with overpriced wines and vodka drinks. (Not that I don’t love overpriced wine and vodka drinks, I just can’t afford them…)

    We’d love to carry your favorite brands, name them and we will bring them in asap.

    Tip Top Kitchen and Cocktails

    Best eggplant fries-yes, Best bartenders-yes, best owners-yes, best whiskey bar-yes.

    Best ash tray service in town too… the waiters clean out the ashtray constantly. David and Ann(?) are the best at this…

    Best bicyclist bar too- Two Wheel Deal…

    Hey Maxeck,

    Gentleman Jack and Jack Danial’s single barrel has been ordered and we’ll keep it in the regular rotation!

    Also look for mint and lemon-thyme (from our rooftop garden) infused bourbon specials this summer!

    This is why Tip Top, Betty’s and Surly are always on the very top of my list of eating and drinking destinations in the city.
