Easton Town Center has landed Ohio’s second Tiffany & Co. store, as the retail development continues to make way for more luxury tenants.

In November, the jeweler will open a prominent two-story store on the center’s square, across from the high-end steakhouse Smith & Wollensky. The store will be larger than most of Tiffany’s 75 stores in the United States, with a design unlike any of its other locations.

The opportunity to secure such a prime spot brought Tiffany executives back to Columbus for discussions last year, after they originally considered Easton about six years ago, said Beth Canavan, Tiffany’s executive vice president.

I’m so excited. I love Tiffany’s. Their silver jewelry is gorgeous and not that bad price-wise. It’s in the biz section of today’s Dispatch.

  • Glad to hear that Columbus has another Ohio first. We have the states only Puma store, Henri Bendel, Cole Haan, Von Maur, Benetton, and now a bigger and better Tiffany’s than in Cincy and the surrounding region!!! Major props for Columbus!!!!! The article also said that Henri Bendel will be expanding for whatever reason and that Easton plans on adding more luxury tenants in the coming months.

Yeah, I’ve been to the Tiffany’s in Cincy. I like that it’s downtown and wish the Columbus one was downtown as well. It’s definitely a destination store that people will drive to no matter where it’s located. I doubt they benefit much from having foot traffic.

As for Easton, I like the layout and concept. I know it’s a “faux” town center, but I’d love to see that sort of enthusiasm for going back to “town center style shopping” applied to a revamped and open-air City Center, which would be a REAL town center and would be able to mix office and residential and artistic space in ways that Easton does not.

The big difference I see from the Tiffany’s being in downtown Cincy, is that there are a couple of other supporting retail stores and restaurants that are in that big fountain square. You can’t just plunk down a Tiffany’s in downtown Columbus and say that it is the best place for a store like that when there is nothing existing to support it. Plus I am guessing they would get a lot of complaints from customers (most probably live in the suburbs) on the difficulty of going to the store and finding a parking space. I would say Tiffany’s probably will benefit from the walk in traffic because there are several pieces priced around $100-$200 that people will just “pick-up” because of it being located there. I have to believe they make good portion of their business off the silver pieces. I would be interested to see which is more profitable for them..the silver pieces that are bought everyday or a $13,000 watch that I am guessing is a tougher sell.

OSULEW-I Love that mesh ring too!

  • oh…and I hate when anything that is an “only store” in Columbus goes in to Polaris…It annoys the crap out of me to pay the higher sales tax rate that goes along with Delaware County.

  • I wonder how Diamond Cellar will do with a “like” competitor, Sure they sell some different items, but…. I am surprised Saks has held on as long as they have I wonder how much profit they are actually churning out up there. As for Easton – I read the “luxury” stores there the sales are up 17% over last year vs. 5% for the whole complex, so the push will be to get more higher end retailers there soon…

Greeted by two woman in Tiffany-blue ball gowns iced with sparkling jewelry, community leaders trickled in for a preview party Thursday, Nov. 6, to celebrate the opening of Tiffany & Co. store at Easton Town Center.

The sky was the limit at the “Celebrate with Diamonds” event as guests tried on any piece of jewelry they desired at the store, located at 4140 The Strand in Columbus. Women and men dressed to the nines in formal wear were surrounded by cocktails and hors d’oeuvres such as pistachio-crusted gouda bites as they had a glimpse into the world of Tiffany, the world-famous jewelry store that first opened in New York City in 1837.

  • This should be downtown in City Center. To me Tiffany’s is a downtown store not a suburb store. Whatever.
