Many of you are aware of Roland – prolific CU poster and predatory Bristol dancer. Some of you know that Roland has two great obsessions – Bono Pizza and White Castles.
So the question was posed – much like the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup – what if you took two great tastes – that (could) go great together and put them into Rolands stomach.
Dateline: Short North, Sunday October 19th – about 8 PM.
A certain CMH Gourmand walked in to Bono as Roland was finishing off a pizza (89% chance it was a #2).
I spoke with Peggy and explained what I had in mind – I think she was a bit taken aback. I showed Roland what I had (8 assorted White castles) and he flinched.
Roland was defeated by the Dagwood and humbled by the Double Beanie Burger – but tonight – Roland was going to give the devil his due. The Roland Pizza was going to happen.
The concept was then presented to Bill – Iron Chef style -”and the mystery ingredient for the Roland is……White Castles”. Like a true champ Bill thought it over, realized it was wrong and in spite of the fact that he was pretty sure this was an immoral culinary act he decided WTF and went for it.
The Roland was sampled by six impartial CUer’s including Roland. The verdict – good, maybe very good. The soul exception was a certain Brit with a genetic disdain for Midwestern meat products.
Making The Roland had no negative effect on Bill – but it did seem to mess up his hair.
Would Roland order the Roland again – no. Would I order it for him and make him eat it – yes. Suggested pairing with the Roland – Highland Estates Pepperoni infused Vodka.

Bono has a new Almond Crepe – it rocks Roland’s socks.

I was just going to say… it looks a whole lot better than I thought it would.
So when Bill cooked it, did the heat rise up through the holes in the pizza?

That Bono mash up is so wrong it rules. Thank you for the great pics. I have to eat there at least one time a week or get all shakey. The Hulk steals into my culinary dreams.

…and, it wasn’t, really. Probably a testament to the rockin’ crust Bill has going.
Finally, it needs to be said – suggesting that Roland flinched at the sight of a sack o sliders is borderline slanderous.
It was better than the usual White Castle. I attribute this to the good ingredients that Bill added to the pizza. Fresh onions, green peppers, and mozzarella. Bill diced up the sliders to incorporate them into the pizza. It was then cooked like a normal pizza. Everyone was impressed with the end result.
I had only one piece but that was enough. 8)
The night could only have been better if I had a Three Meat Martini to enjoy with the meal….

Still have never eaten a slider. BUT … AT LEAST NOW I have eaten sausage … pepperoni … and drum roll please … bacon!

But he kinda did though– in that “I just ate an entire #2 and I can’t imagine eating a slider now” sort of way. In fact, I seem to recall he said, “Oh, man!” when he heard Jim’s nefarious plan.

This reminds me of when Zach made slider sushi rolls. The pizza looks a little better though – thanks to the Yerkes magic.
Speaking of Yerkes. It has been far too long since I have enjoyed a menage a trois with my man.
Well, at least some of us. But the pull of this freak ass concoction was too much to miss… so a Sunday return was a must.

Good job, that Pizza was probably better than the White Castle sushi rolls I made once. I think heat is the difference.
