Did that review say $21? Wow. If it were closer, we'd be there weekly.

I proposed to my wife at the Bistro. I wanted to be in the most romantic, classiest setting I could find in Columbus, but I was too short on funds to make it into the dining room proper...

My only possible reason to not praise the Bistro is to keep it a secret of those in the know...

Yep, it's been a while since I've taken advantage of the bistro meal...but that has everything to do with location and absolutely nothing to do with the restaurant itself. Never had short of a fantastic meal there.

Wow, how amazing! -Just- literally yesterday, I went to the Refectory for the first time too. I had the (nice rye bread,) squash soup, grouper fish and dessert of the day myself.

My dessert was an 'orange napoleon' - an orange so well-boiled (it seemed like a peach, to me), peeled and sliced in half atop a thick wafer. Dots of cream and raspberry syrup swirled around the plate, and a tiny fresh sprig of mint (they have an herb garden - like many good French-inspired places - from which some of their greens come) on top of that. One of the best meals - and deals - I've had in Columbus.

Did you know? You can actually get a gift card for the place - worth $25 - for only $17.50. Four times a year, "Dine Originals - Columbus" offers it from among the two dozen or so local places. The Refectory is by far the most popular offering, and the gift cards are usually gone literally within hours.

Here is the website for it. You can sign up for an e-mail so that they can notify you when new ones go on sale.

http://www.columbusoriginals.com/gc

Thanks for the review!

* Geoff

livejournal.com/~twilightboy
