The Moonlight Market on Gay Street officially becomes a “sweater weather” event this evening as the temperatures cool off and the final days of summer can be counted down on two hands. That doesn’t mean there won’t be a lot to do this month, as over 100 street vendors, retail trucks and brick-and-mortar businesses participate in the ongoing monthly event series.
Here’s a list of six quick things not to miss at the Moonlight Market tonight from 6pm to 11pm:
- The Carvery – If you haven’t had a chance to check out this new Gay Street Restaurant for lunch, then tonight is your night to check them out during special extended hours for the Moonlight Market. But if the lines get too long, there’s plenty of other great restaurants on the street open late too.
- Pop-Up Bake Shop – The Hubbard Mastery School PTO is hosting their Pop-Up Bake Shop that has been quite popular at the Screen on the Green movie events in Goodale Park. Check it out at the Moonlight Market for homemade oreos, strawberry lemonade cupcakes and more.
- The Cordova Ink Tattoo Truck – The Moonlight Market always hosts several retail trucks (Pursuit, Tigertree, Ghetto Vintage, etc) but the Cordova Ink truck is truly unique. Customers can pick out a tattoo on the spot and leave with new ink before the night is over.
- Mad Macs – It’s the return of the mac! We first heard about this local macaron business during the 400 Winter Market last year, but we haven’t heard much about them in 2014. Well, they’re making their return during the Moonlight Market tonight! Come try them out!
- Bourbon Barrel Sunglasses – The woodworking dudes at The Columbus Barrel Co. are debuting their new bourbon barrel sunglasses. The wooden framed spectacles can be found in their usual spot by the Residence Inn along with a variety of other hand crafted products.
- Celebrate the Start of Fall – With cooler weather comes the start of fall flavors! You can get your fix of pumpkin-flavored FroYo at 39 Below, grab an Octoberfest Abita on the patio at J. Gumbo’s, and treat yourself with an Auburn Brunette Brownie from Sugardaddy’s.
