From Restaurant Widow:
The Big Brunch Hunt – Banana Bean
In our quest to find the best brunch in the city of Columbus, the Brave Brunching Big Ladies met up at Banana Bean last week. Banana Bean began life as a tiny little spot on Whittier Street in German Village where you didn’t have a hope of getting in for brunch unless you had a reservation a week out. That success allowed them to open a second location on Greenlawn avenue close to Thurns.

The Big Brunch Hunt – Banana Bean

Banana Bean def. gets my vote!
One of the better brunch options in the city! Thanks for the article and pics–gives me some ideas as to what to try next time.
Great review! BB is indeed one of the best breakfasts/brunches in town.
This town is starting to really bustle for brunch fare. LOVING IT!
LOVE Banana Bean. Great review! I tend to order the same thing every time I go, the pictures are great and will definitely get me trying other menu items! Everything at Banana Bean is top notch-I have a great meal and service every time I am there. Also, go there at night: Crab Tater Tots.
I’m glad the comments here are nice; the comments on the post on my site are pretty negative.
I have to say I’ve eaten at the old location on numerous occasions and have always really enjoyed the food. Occasionally things can be slow but it’s a small kitchen, and they can only do so much at one time, especially when everyone comes in at the same time for lunch. Even when things have been slow our service has always been great-the servers have always let us know if it’s going to be a few extra minutes.
oh! one side note – this was our least expensive brunch so far (we’ve done Sage and the Worthington Inn) (and yes, we paid for everything). Couldn’t believe how inexpensive their drinks were compared to the Short North.
wow….read comments on your site, have to say; out of almost everyone I know eating there, those are the very first complaints I’ve ever actually heard.
Cafe Bella. but don’t tell anyone.
Lisa, love the drink specials at Banana Bean. I’m not much of a drinker, but could live on the $2 ‘Ritas. (Well those, and the $3 Betty Ford Specials at Betty’s).
Great review, and yay to @BananaBeanCafe on Twitter for the amazing response to your egg tweet. Now, *that* is what you call customer service.
I’m really glad I gave them a second chance. Their Greenlawn location is one of my favorite places to eat recently.
We did Banana Bean a few weeks ago – while they didn’t have a kids menu (And since I have 2 it poses a potential problem) – they were happy to accomodate.
My food was fantastic, the service was good, and the top surprise for me was the coffee – they have an amazing cup of coffee.
I can’t wait to go back.
