The Great Best Burger in Ohio Hunt – Queen Bee

The Queen Bee is a cozy little diner on 4th Street at Rich. They serve breakfast (which I hear is pretty tasty) and lunch only, closing at 3 pm. The joint is staffed by the owner, a nice lady who recently purchased the ‘Bee, and another nice server, who was polite and efficient.
We’re back on the upswing. Husband and I ordered the two signature burgers at the Queen Bee: the Queen Bee burger, which is 2 patties on a kaiser roll with American cheese, pickles, tomato and onions; and the Stinger, a half-pound Angus burger on kaiser with smoked cheddar, onion petals (fried onion slivers), and “special sauce.”

Has anyone been here recently? I’ve never gone and was just thinking about it a bit tonight. I’m always game for trying out new spots downtown and this is one that feels like it frequently gets overlooked.
So yeah? Any recommendations out there? Or does anyone else want to go try it out?
:D
I get takeout from there all the time. I can honestly say I like everything I’ve had so far since they changed owenership a while back. Probably my favorite is their grilled chicken sandwich.
A friend of mine had a gallery next door. Every time I went to the diner the lady that owned the place was super nice. When I told her I couldn’t order anything because I was vegetarian… she went out before the next time I was in and created a veggie burger so that vegetarians could eat there.
It was great.
I appreciate a business who is concerned about helping bring in vegetarians providing options.
In turn… I brought my meat eating friends there. They said it was great.
Cool, thanks for the feedback guys. I’m going to try to stop in sometime this week to grab a bite. :D

What’s going on with the Artful Dodger thing anyways??? (assuming that’s what you meant). But yeah, I almost left my hermit like ways to get to the A.D. opening just because Queen Bee was catering it!
food is good. I think I had a fish wrap last time. might have been a special they had that day. if I remember correctly the fries were pretty good as well. I think they close early though, maybe around 3pm. (not positive though) you might want to check if you are planning on eating later.
I love the Queen Bee, the soup is amazing
I stopped in today and got some Pot Roast to go. Had some sandwiches for dinner tonight and it was pretty tasty! Will definitely be back soon to try other items!
Oh, and I found out that Lisa’s review (linked in the first post) is printed out and hung up in the window at Queen Bee! Nice! They seem to be proud of their local blogger support! :D
Went today and had a yummy Perch Filet sandwich.
The french fries were delicious. And the staff is super nice!
Every time I see this thread pop up, for a moment I think it’s going to be a new burger review. I’m always slightly disappointed when I finish reading the title and realize it’s not. :(
Nothing to slight the Queen Bee however. And I have the best intentions of visiting soon…haven’t quite come to fruition just yet. But someday. Hopefully sooner than later.
Yeah, Lisa needs to pick up this series where she left off! More burger reviews please!
Oh, also, I had the Stinger at Queen Bee today. It was pretty solid. The fries are what did it for me though. GREAT fries.
Plus, the place is very diner-esque. I know Paul had a thread awhile back complaining about the lack of diners in Columbus, and even though Queen Bee has some limited hours, it’s still worthy of checking out if you’re in the mood for a diner.
I know I know!! We did a burger hunt on Sunday! Stay tuned!
And, we are going to Lima for Xmas so we will be visiting the Kewpie and I think something called Happy Dayz or something. Anything on 33 between here & Lima I’m happy to hear about!!
There is nothing in between here and Lima on 33 except cows, soybeans and corn.
you can meet your future hamburger. hee hee.
This place: http://www.dochendersonsrestaurant.com = AWESOME
marysville homer!
Being from NW Ohio, I’ve had Kewpie on many occasions. The story we always heard was that Dave Thomas took the idea of Wendy’s directly from Kewpie.
Supposely, as the story goes, he wanted to franchise Kewpie initially, but they declined, prefering to be a smaller family run business. When they turned him down, he alledgedly just directly copied the entire business model.
Whether there is any truth to that or not, there are some significant similarities. The square, “always fresh never frozen” burgers. The chili. The frostys.
So, I leave it up to you to decide…or someone with more insight to either prove or dispel the rumors. My usual goto, Snopes, isn’t much help on this one.
Also, while not along 33, by far the best burger I’ve had in NW Ohio is at this place called Bullwinkle’s in Dola. It’s in what looks to be a rundown shack, about 15 feet from the railroad tracks. I didn’t believe it was actually a bar/restaurant the first time I was there. So if anyone ever finds themselves in Dola….it’s worth a stop. It’s an interesting experience/place to visit to say the least.
Nice find. I’m from NW Ohio too but I’ve never heard of that place. I’m even more North and West than Lima.
The Queen Bee is Columbus’s best kept secret!
The owner Jean plans to update the menu with some interesting vegetarian items as well as an endless soup with sandwich option. Her soups are homemade and fabulous.
The breakfast is wonderful and the service always friendly.
This restaurant is beloved by the Betty’s family.
Jean, Ms. Queen Bee, serves 7 days/week, 8-3pm weekdays and 8-2pm weekends. Just had breakfast there last week with my favorite Surly Girl, Carmen. Prices are great. Decor kitschy enough to make Betty’s look demure. Go!
