    The Great Best Burger in Ohio Hunt – Alive Edition

    The Alive wrote Hamburg, an Akron-ism

    Most people don’t know that a civil war is raging in Akron. It has been for over half a century. And the rabid combatants are as adamant in their opposing positions as the North and South, the Hatfields and McCoys, tastes great and less filling.

    I’m talking about the long-standing Akron battle over bragging rights to greatest all-time hamburger. Wait, make that hamburg. See, that old-fashioned word is how the old-fashioned burger joints — Swensons and Sky-Way — refer to their beloved sandwiches.

    Recently I recruited a born-and-bred ex-pat Akronite to guide me through the two retro restaurants, and I’ve recorded some observations. But first, a little background.
