The Golden Age to Feature Designs by Three Local Clothing Labels

Several Columbus-based fashion industry professionals have joined forces to put on an event showcasing the work of three local labels and celebrating the city’s rising profile.

The event, called The Golden Age, takes place tomorrow at Studio 35. A VIP cocktail hour kicks off the festivities at 6 p.m. General admission doors open at 8 p.m. and the fashion show begins at 8:30 p.m.

Thirty 1920s-inspired looks by Elizabeth Ashleigh Designs, Jones Select Custom Clothiers, and Josie Wills will walk the runway. The clothing −men’s suits, evening wear, swimwear and lingerie− will be styled by Erika Dellatorre of Piece of Chic. Waldo’s On High and Leigh Ann Ehmann of Make You LLC will do the models’ hair and makeup, respectively.

“With the successful rise of small business, a focus on local arts and economy, and our strong sense of community, we’re really starting to create a cultural identity for ourselves as a city,” said Matt Reese of We Are Glitterati. “If you notice, all of our sponsors and collaborators are local and independently owned. This was intentional. We really wanted to prove that we’re currently living in a golden age and that it was possible to create a premiere event with nothing but Columbus-based talent.”

When Reese and Sarah Ginsberg of Heyman Talent Agency (which will provide the show’s models) began developing the concept for The Golden Age, the first question they asked themselves was, “Where?”

“Once we decided on Studio 35, its history and presence sparked the inspiration for a Classic Hollywood themed runway show and party,” Reese said. “There’s just a certain charm about the space that lends itself so well to a party of this nature.”

Proceeds from the The Golden Age benefit CD101 For the Kids.

Ginsberg said the event’s coordinators wanted to partner with a charity that uplifts the Columbus community and decided to go with CD101 For the Kids because it has “a long history of supporting many amazing organizations,” including Columbus Children’s Hospital, the Homeless Families Foundation, and the Ronald McDonald House.

General admission tickets for The Golden Age are $40; VIP tickets range from $80 to $150; and VIP tables are $500.

    Tickets can purchased at TheGoldenAgeColumbus.eventbrite.com.
