The Bristol Bar Opens at Fifth & Summit

By:

If you haven’t been to this bar yet, check it out. Its located on the corner of 5th and Summit (not in a crazy area). They have free valet party from time to time and the drinks are so damn good for a pretty cheap price. How cheap do you ask? well, lets just say that when my girlfriend and I went, she bought 4 well made martinas (however you spell it), 4 well mix drinks (long islands and volka and cranberry) and her tab was only 32.50!! The bar is small but it is real laid back. The music is mix for everyone’s pleasure and the people, both male and female are real cool and easy to talk to. For the guys, the women are very sexy and easy to talk to and for the ladies, the guys are real cool as well. Check it out. Friday and Saturday nights are the best nights to go. Its not a thug bar, punk bar or trashy bar. People do dress nice but you don’t have to dress classy to go there. There is a difference between nice and classy. Classy is for those places that make a dress code which is sometimes stupid. Just as long as you don’t wear some old shit that needs to be wash. You know? Check it out.

  • The wife had a glass at Tip Top last time we were there…they have it on draft. It was expensive (~$7), but a tasty treat.

  • I can’t believe you would ruin a Guinness like that :)

  • Betty’s was the first place I tasted Lindemans Lambics. They used to carry Framboise and Peche, not sure if they still have both. Bento always has Framboise and sometimes has Peche and another but I can’t remember which. Think there are 5 total flavors.

And just to clarify, Framboise is French for Raspberry and refers to the flavor. I have noticed a couple of places and people say the Framboise Raspberry Lambic and I have noticed that Bento’s even has Framboise Peche Lambic on their beer list thinking that it is the type of beer and not the flavor.

Lindeman’s was the first Lambic beer imported into the US and has made a pretty big impact on getting them into the mainstream. I know Giant Eagle carries them already, not sure about other chains.

  • Betty’s, Surly Girl, Tip Top and I think Bodega (on tap) and High5 have them. But as far as lambics, go they are pretty dumbed down for the masses. If you want a better idea about what lambics and gueuzes are really like, go to a place like Grapes of Mirth in the North Market and ask Dave Bihn, the owner, about some of the different lambics and gueuzes he carries.

  • Walker wrote I wish they had a small kitchen. Some small tapas plates would fit this space nicely.

Exactly. If they had that, I promise I’d be there much more often.

  • Coremodels wrote Yep, as a guy who pretty much never departs from a beer…their mango martini is off the charts.

BTW, those guys made like everything in there (including the cool wooden sinks) by hand.

I was drunk once, and I couldn’t turn those fucking sinks on for like 15 minutes. Nice looking things, though.

  • swan wrote the owner recently sold it, or hes about to sell it and move back to manhattan. and the new bartenders aren’t making the drinks as strong as the place always has… sigh. The curse of hiring bartenders who worked at campus bars.

    Alright, that’s just blasphemy.

I’ve been to as many or more Campus bars as many or more times than anyone on this message board. And I can attest (sigh) that Campus isn’t known for skimping on alcohol at any time.

If shit’s gone sour at the Bristol Bar, it has nothing to do with anyone from the service industry near Ohio State.

I’ve heard so many complaints on CU about rowdy, drunk assholes on Campus. These people don’t get plastered because of a few watered-down Jack & Cokes.

  • I looove this bar, havnt been there in a while. The candlelit inside is a nice touch.

I saw someone spin there once, I wonder if theyre looking for residency

Don’t knock it till you try it.
