Starbucks announced plans this afternoon to close all 379 of its Teavana locations across the U.S., stating that the stores were “underperforming.” Three stores can currently be found in the Columbus market, located at Easton Town Center, Polaris Fashion Place and The Mall at Tuttle Crossing.
Teavana was launched in 1997 in Atlanta by an entrepreneurial husband and wife. The business grew rapidly and was eventually purchased by Starbucks in 2012. Most stores will continue to operate through Spring 2018, and fans of the brand will be able to find products in other locations beyond the brick-and-mortar closing timeframe.
“While it is a difficult decision to close our stores, we will continue to bring Teavana tea to you through our Starbucks stores, bottled Teavana Craft Iced Teas and will soon offer full leaf tea sachets where groceries are sold,” stated the company this evening on Facebook.
