Akai Hana, the restaurant formerly known as Restaurant Japan, has long been considered a sushi powerhouse.
The layout and overall decor are virtually the same as they were before the name change, which wasn’t tied to any change in ownership.
The sushi bar, which is a little smaller than many of the newer ones, is still unusually well-manned: At least three — sometimes four — sushi chefs are seemingly always trying to keep up with demand.

Okay, this is the kind of stuff that makes me think that folks from other media are reading our humble scribblings and “Hmmm… let’s write a story about that!”. Just kidding, kind of.
The more publicity for Akai Hana, the better, though, that place is heaven on earth to me… I would seriously miss it when i lived other places.
I usually eat within a 2 mile radius, but this is one of the few restaurants that I drive 20 minutes to go to. Never had a bad meal there…and the prices aren’t bad either.
Always love eating there. Sushi’s great, Sukiyaki is awsome.
And right across the aisle, at the Japanese market, you can get good take out sushi made to order while you shop all the crazy imported snacks and candies!
