When Tom Finney and Mark Ballard launched Sugardaddy’s Sumptuous Sweeties in 2005, it was with one simple mission: to make life a little sweeter. In the past eight years, they’ve done just that, turning Sugardaddy’s from an online purveyor of baked confections into a company with three storefronts in the Greater Columbus area at Polaris, Easton, and Gay Street.
Now, it’s time for the entrepreneurs to turn their attention to their next great project, and pass the reins of the Sugardaddy’s empire to its new leaders, Lisa and Dan Anglim, a locally-based couple poised to take Sugardaddy’s into 2014, and beyond.
Dan moved to Columbus shortly after college; Lisa came here for school as well – and never left. The couple reside in Lewis Center, and after meeting with Finney and Ballard about the venture, they became convinced they were the ones to shape Sugardaddy’s future. Finney and Ballard agreed.
“They have the resources and passion to write Sugardaddy’s next chapter,” shares Ballard on the Anglims’ takeover. “The future is bright, with a great deal of growth potential in the years ahead.”
Sugardaddy’s’ Executive Chef, Mark Harkins, and his team will stay on and continue to create the dynamic flavors customers have come to crave. In fact, the only real change brownie lovers will notice will be to the website, which is currently being redesigned to simplify the online ordering process.
When the new website launches in January, customers will see an increase in product selection, reduced shipping costs, an in-store pick-up feature, and special functionality for corporate gifters. The site should be easier to navigate, and offer more shipping options.
Finney and Ballard will serve on Sugardaddy’s Advisory Board going forward, supporting the Anglims as they grow the Sugardaddy’s brand into the nation’s chief destination for brownies, blondies, and all the good stuff in-between.
“The goals of the business remain the same: delivering premier, fresh brownie products with consistent, excellent customer experience,” says Lisa about the future of the company. “Tom and Mark’s passion drew us into the business, and ours will take it to the next level.”
