    Style File: Christina Christian

As Yelp Columbus Community Manager, Christina Christian works to connect the community with standout local businesses. One ways she does that is by partnering with those businesses to host events, everything from Run/Walk Club meetups to exclusive parties for the Yelp Elite− Yelp.com’s most active users.

Though Christian relishes her role, her hectic social calendar (she usually hosts one to two events a week, but managed to host six in seven days during Yelp Drinks! 2011) certainly presents style challenges.

“I’m generally all over the city on any given day of the week, so only with a little organization, planning and, most importantly, layering am I able to make it from one place to the next wearing the appropriate clothing,” she said.

When getting dressed for the day, Christian considers three things: what she will be doing, the places she will go, and the length of her workday.

“My style revolves around what best represents me in the most authentic way,” she said. “And, of course, does it need ironed or cleaned?”

Perhaps it’s that practicality that prevents her from realizing she has great fashion sense.

“I never really considered myself a “fashionable” person, which got me thinking what’s fashionable to one person may not be fashionable to the next,” she said. “Much like beauty. What it really boils down to is wearing items that are you in the most flattering way.”

    That’s sage advice, no?

What else does Christian have to say about fashion and style? Read on.

Favorite fashion trend of all time?

I’m not one to follow trends, but the little black dress is a favorite because you can make it your own! You don’t need to be “trendy” to find a perfect, cheap and versatile dress you’ll wear for years.

What are you most vain about?

I’m most vain about my hair. I’m a natural blonde! And in my world, blondes really do have more fun. Or at least I do!

Who do you consider a style icon?

Reese Witherspoon and Katie Holmes. So eloquent and sophisticated, yet so understated and simple. There aren’t many things I’ve seen them wear that made me wonder what they heck they were thinking before they put it on.

What are three items you can’t live without?

My four-year-old Rainbow flip flops. My favorite pair of jeans. A hair tie

    Your favorite local shop?

Huge fan of Substance for Fashion Conscious People and HOMAGE.

A style motto you live by.

A versatile version of “Those who matter don’t mind, and those who mind don’t matter.”
