SPARC Race Track Announces Partnership with Richard Petty

The Ashot Investment Corporation — developer of the Sports Pavilion and Automotive Research Center (SPARC) — announced today a new partnership with the Richard Petty Driving Experience. The new race track facility will be located just southwest of Downtown at the old Cooper Stadium site, and the new partnership will add a full spectrum driving experience academy to the project.

“Since the beginning of this Project, it has been our intention to foster a synergistic environment for all of SPARC’s constituents by partnering with the best-of-breed partners in every aspect,” says Bill Schottenstein, principal of Arshot. “We definitely accomplished this in bringing Midwestern Auto Group and Michael Waltrip Racing into SPARC. Now, with the addition of Richard Petty Driving Experience, SPARC will be able to offer the highest quality in name brand driving instruction and recreation – from driver safety courses for newly licensed teenage drivers to advanced racing techniques for automotive enthusiasts.”

Brian Flynn, CEO of Petty Holdings said they were drawn to the SPARC partnership due to the site’s proximity to Downtown Columbus, its visibility and access from major highways, and the attractive demographic that the Central Ohio market has to offer.

“This is and ideal place to showcase the various motorsports and performance driving programs,” explains Flynn. “Being situated in the middle of almost 2.4 million people, this highly visible location with nearly 100 million people driving by the site annually is ideally suited to draw tens of thousands of visitors who are seeking to satisfy their need for speed.”

Construction work at SPARC began last month with a phased completion timeframe currently scheduled for late 2015 through early 2016.
