In just a few short weeks, residents and visitors on the west side of Columbus will have a new shop for sneakers and fashion when Stitch opens their doors to the public at 3949 West Broad Street. Minhaj Sarwar is the owner of the new store, and creative director Travis Walker is helping him bring the concept to life.
“This has always been a dream of mine, and fortunately for me, Sarwar was able to back the idea and we collaborated on the vision and now it’s finally come to life,” said Walker about the concept. “I’ve always been into fashion and sneakers, and I’ve always wanted to be able to bring something to the city that we’ve never had before.”
Walker said that while the core of the business is focused on carrying sneaker brands and styles that are currently unavailable in Columbus, the store will include clothing as well to diversify the product lineup.
“We would like to think we will be a one stop shop,” he explained. “Sneakers, clothing, denim, socks, hats, bags, accessories and everything else you need. Brand wise, we’ll have PRPS denim, Nudie Jeans, Pierre Balmain, BBC, MCM, MHRS, Comme Des Garcons, Versace Collection, Puma, Asics, Timberland, Cole Haan, and three or four other footwear brands.”
Walker said that he and Sarwar were drawn to opening on the west side because there’s not much else going on in the area, which gives them an opportunity to stand out.
“We wanted to separate ourselves and kind of create our own location and image,” said Walker. “The shop is directly in front of the casino, and I know the city is building that entire area up. Out of respect to the other sneaker boutique in the city, Sole Classics, we wanted to separate ourselves and go to a different side of town since they’re Downtown.”
Stitch is slated for a late-August opening, with an exact date to be announced via social media.
“We want to bring something fresh to the city, something you wouldn’t typically see unless you went to Chicago, Miami, New York or LA,” added Walker. “We want to grow, be involved in the community, and bring something positive to Columbus. We have big plans for how we are going to do all of that, and the storefront is only the beginning.”
