While sipping and grazing my way through the Columbus tavern snackscape for this week’s Ultimate Bar Guide, I would have had to have been tipsier than I actually was (and that’s saying something) not to have noticed an obvious meaty common denominator: You can hardly fling a pickle in this city without it landing on a menu offering some sort of slider.
And don’t even pretend you don’t know what a slider is. Sure, a few burger burners try to class up their act by euphemizing the little greasers into “mini-burgers,” but the fact of the matter remains: look what White Castle hath wrought.
Fortunately, today’s knock-off sliders inevitably stand several upgrades above the original soft-steamed model.
