Six-Story Mixed-Use Development Announced on Fifth Avenue

A new 285-unit mixed-use development called The View on Fifth was announced this morning by JSDI Celmark, the developers behind the similarly named The View on High. The main six-story building located at the corner of Fifth Avenue and Holly Avenue will contain 153 residential units, a parking garage and over 24,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space. The remaining 132 units will be housed in three story structures facing Holly Avenue with surface parking.

“We believe our Fifth Avenue location will foster the spirit of new urbanism, a livable, walkable and sustainable lifestyle, where large numbers of sought-after generation-Y talent will choose to live,” said JSDI Celmark Principle Mike Balakrishnan. “Our modern, edgy design, unique floor plans, upscale kitchens and abundant amenities will appeal to that market.”

The View on Fifth was designed by Austin-based Rhode Partners and Columbus-based BBCO Design. The modern design allows for open floor plans and large windows, with contemporary lighting and hardwood floors. A community space within the building features an openable glass wall that turns the space into an all-weather deck with a swimming pool, hot tub and fire pits.

Other amenities include private balconies, media room, dog washing facility, and a large clubhouse on Holly Avenue that includes a lounge, fitness center and conference room.

JSDI Celmark principals Mike Balakrishnan and Jerry Solove expect to break ground on construction sometime next month, beginning with the three-story structures with the six-story building starting later this year. The entire project is planned for completion by Summer 2014.
