Si Señor Latin Cafe Opens Downtown on Wednesday

By: Walker

Guillermo Perez is the latest entrepreneur to make the jump from the Pearl Market into a full time retail space Downtown. His new business is called Si Señor, and is moving into the old Rolls Cafe space at 6 East Long Street in the Atlas Building.

“What we’re trying to do is offer a few traditional Latin sandwiches as well as some familiar items with a Latin twist,” said Guillermo. “We want our menu to showcase items that people feel comfortable with.”

The menu primarily consists of sandwiches, entrees, sides, desserts and beverages.

“One of the cool things we’re doing is marinading and slow-roasting our own turkey, roast beef and pork,” added Guillermo. “One of our most popular items at the Pearl Market was our braised pork that we then fry and serve with picked red onions and sweet potato mayo.”

The small cafe will primarily service as a take-out establishment, as their indoor seating only accommodates around 10 people at a time. “We will also be doing some catering, and eventually want to offer delivery as well,” said Guillermo.

The cafe will be open from 10am to 4pm on Monday through Friday to start. “If there’s demand, we’ll look into expanding our hours and adding Saturdays,” said Guillermo.

  • Good to see the Latin District extend up to Long which can use more lovin’.

  • Looking forward to trying them out! :D

  • This was definitely my #1 stop during the summer Pearl Market for lunch.  Can’t wait to see the new digs!

  • Congrats, best wishes, and welcome to the neighborhood!  We’ll be in soon!

  • I like it very much. I can see myself eating here many times in the future.

  • Nice! Thanks for the review!

  • I stopped in yesterday and got some food to go. The service was a tad bit slow, but it was during the lunch rush, and they have only been open for a week, so I imagine it will improve.

I tried the Jumping Beef Sandwich and Anne had the Chorizo-Meatloaf Sandwich. True to Guillermo’s word, these were great traditional sandwiches with Latin twists. Portions were great, prices are in the $5-$7 range and the flavors were good too. Will definitely be back soon for more!

  • I’m glad the JBS is still on the menu, it really is great.  chorizo-meatloaf sandwich sounds REALLY interesting.
    Which did you like better?

  • I thought they were both pretty good, but would probably lean toward the Jumping Beef. The Meatloaf was almost more of a meatball sub. Good flavor, but Anne thought it could use some lettuce and extra tomato to offset the giant amount of meat.

  • I just had the Pork Sandwich and it was awesome! Loaded with meat and perfect bread. The red onion complimented the whole experience. Need to get the word out!
