Short North Wedding Walk Takes Place on Sunday

By: Walker

On Sunday, April 18th, the retail group known as the Short North Wedding Collective will host their second “Wedding Walk” event starting at 11am. Nine businesses in the neighborhood will be participating and offering services from wedding dress sizing to catering to cakes to jewelry to photography.

“We were met with such positive enthusiasm last season, that we have determined to make this a bi-annual event for our Columbus couples,” states Kristin Cooke of Big Rock Little Rooster.

The nine participating businesses include Bakery Gingham, Big Rock Little Rooster, Bliss, C Studios, Collier West, Marcella’s, Max the Salon, On Paper and Rose Bredl. Collectively, these boutique shops will serve as a one-stop wedding planning service during this event.

“The Wedding Collective is another way for us to showcase the community’s talents, tools and trade skills as they relate to the wedding industry”, notes Suzi West of Collier West. “Before this collaboration, I don’t think people were aware that we offered so much in such a small stretch.”

The Wedding Walk takes place between West Poplar Avenue and First Avenue in the Short North starting at 11am. Reservations can be made via phone at 614.294.9378 or via email at info@shortnorthweddingwalk.com.

  • Pedicabs are always for hire for weddings. They can ferry wedding guests between hotels, receptions, and services. They add a fun and unique touch to any wedding and are especially good for getting grandma and grandpa around.

  • how nice for them. so what are any of those businesses doing to support marriage rights for the people who made this district what it is, aka the lgbt community?

  • Shirtandpants: I coudn’t agree more. I hope what while happy couples make wedding plans that they remember those who can’t get married. I’m not against weddings – i’m just anti-marriage discrimination.

  • Hmmm, I didn’t know these businesses HAD to do anything for gay marriage? The law is the law, what do you want them to do “shirtandpants” and “Oak”. Obviously they are a big part of the Short North and play a big role in it’s atmosphere. I don’t think that just the gay/lesbian community and people made the Short North. I am pretty sure there were quite a few straight people who have invested both time and money into this area. I’m offended by your comments and sterotyping.

  • Will look forward to seeing everyone Sunday and if not, at a future date.
As a representative of the community (home owner and business owner) I will advise that we appreciate all those support our community, independence and individuality. The SN is a neighborhood that thrives on diversity, whether that be cultural, religious or artistic preference (to name a few.) I for one, would not want to be a part of any other neighborhood. We created this collective to shed light on the offerings of High Street. As collaborative businesses, we showcase several specialists for wedding planners- but also, we thrive on all specialties. Find us as your destination for style, pleasure, enlightenment, entertainment and inspiration. Whether it be transporation or liberation…hey, we do our best to draw awareness to the area.  Keep supporting your locals; change takes time.

    Best,
    Suzi West
