Short North Arches Go Technicolor in September

ShortNorth.org wrote Short North Arches Go Technicolor at September Gallery Hop

Wednesday, August 15, 2007

Short North Arts District, Columbus, OH - On Saturday, September 1, at 9:00PM, the Short North will throw the switch on the final phase of the High Street Arches renovation. The iconic arches will transform into an array of brilliant colors and effects that will become the signature feature of the nationally acclaimed Arts District.

The 17 High Street arches sprang back to life in late May, as the lighting was completely re-engineered and upgraded with LED technology. Since then, the arches have steadily glowed incandescent white. Beginning September 1, the arches will pulse and shimmer with the artistic energy and diverse vibrancy of the Short North.

Do they have a switch they can throw to put more galleries back in the arts district….?

Sorry, I had to be a dick.

    The arches will be awesome.

This is like, going to be the bestest light show since Red White and Boom man. We should all drop acid and rent flat bed trucks and put mattresses in them so we can drive up and down high street laying on our backs and just enjoy the trails…

Not that I have a plan or thought this out or anything.

    Drugs are bad.

I was walking to a bar late one night - back in late may when they were still closing off sections of High St. to work on the arches, —I remember freaking out as one arch after the other went from yellow, to blue, to red one right after the other…then when it hit the last arch it sprung back towards us… It was sooo cool and exciting.

I guess they were just testing them..its totally worth the “trip” to see them do this come September.

Husband and I were enjoying the MoJoe patio this evening when I thought I had suddenly gone crazy, especially since I was just saying how the arches were supposed to go crazy during the Sept. Gallery Hop, but no. Here’s proof - first they were white (no picture), then they were blue, then magenta, then green. Because the white is so weird, it’s hard to tell apart from the green; hence, no pic. But still:
