Back in April, new boutique Spencer’s Influence opened on East Long Street near the Long Street Bridge. The new store is the first for entrepreneur Wayne Spencer, who opened the shop with help from his wife Kimberly.
“I worked retail for about twenty years and I always wanted to do it on my own,” said Spencer. “Plus, there was a need for this in Columbus.”
While Spencer has experience in retail and utilizes it, he stated that his wife spends her time managing the finances. The couple thought of the business idea on their way back from a vacation in Indianapolis.
“She came up with the name and we put our heads together and came up with more ideas,” he stated.
Spencer classifies his men’s boutique as “modern,” and with shirts from Robert Graham and cuff links from Trafalgar, a contemporary style is brought to mind. The store contains a variety of old school and modern hats, belts, and ties. Spencer explains that this boutique is dedicated to the “every day man” and “all mankind of any age.”
Spencer added that he has plans to expand the business into the upstairs portion of their building at 701 East Long Street. Once that plan develops, Spencer’s Influence is looking into selling suits, pants and tailor-made items.
This Saturday, the store is hosting a “Customer Appreciation” event from 3pm to 7pm for anyone who wants to check out this new boutique.
