From The Dispatch:
Shadowbox might not make move to Brewery District
By Michael GrossbergShadowbox is reconsidering its plan for a move from Easton Town Center to a new theater in the Brewery District. The troupe — which presents music, comedy and theater — is negotiating to expand its Easton space amid uncertain financing for the Brewery District building, producer Steve Guyer said.

Shadowbox might not make move to Brewery District

Rats! I was hoping to see Shadowbox inside the 270 loop. They’ve sounded so excited about the move, too.
that would be such a disappointment! I don’t suppose Easton wants to lose them though.
Uh… CatnFiddle… Easton is inside the 270 loop. ;)
But yeah, I was disappointed to hear this too. Downtown needs more types of live entertainment, and I thought that Shadowbox would be a perfect fit for Brewmaster’s Gate.
What’s wrong with Easton? :)
Nothing particularly. I thought the old setup of having two Shadowbox locations was fine. One in the Short North and one in Easton. That way, those who want to visit a cultural entertainment venue in a vibrant, energetic urban neighborhood had a place they could do that, and those who want to visit a cultural entertainment venue in a… uh… shopping mall… could do that too. ;)
Embarrassingly, a Shadowbox show is one of those things I’ve never gotten around to attending. And I was looking forward to changing that when they moved to the Brewery District. :(
Yet another let down for Downtown….
This is so sad. There are so many projects that we are finally getting around to doing that will improve the urban landscape, and now, we don’t have the money to build things. :-( But, we can still hope as they have yet to finalize there decision.
I’d consider it more of a letdown for the Brewery District. That area needs a nightlife shot-in-the-arm such as this. Otherwise, Downtown has been making lots of progress lately.
Well they haven’t said they are not coming officially just yet so I’m not prepared to give up on the hope just yet. I’m sure Arshot will do everything they possibly can to make sure the deal gets done
Bah this credit crunch is a major fun killer.
That sucks, the Brewery District needs a shot in the arm. It is totally dead when it should not be. Besides, anyone else notice how ghetto Easton is getting at night?
Easton is not really the most appropriate place for Shawdowbox…I dont like how they have it shoved in the back hallway next to the restrooms. I hope they decide to bring it to the Brewery District and think about the long run.
Very disappointing to read this. Anything that benefits Downtown over the burbs and outer fringe shopping meccas is a good thing. I agree with you, Urbanboi. Shadowbox would fit in much better in the Brewery District than in Easton. Maybe something better will pan out for them eventually along these lines, given that the future in general is going to be about urban life, and not so much “pseudo-downtowns” like Easton.
